How To Wear Your Fashionable Masks And Keep Your Immune System Strong!
Since the national mandate to wear masks in public, it is imperative that we do so to help keep the spread of the virus down to a minimum. It is equally important to keep our immune systems healthy and strong.
Wearing your protective masks in public does not mean that a mask should be worn at all times. If you are planning a trip to the grocery store or any other public setting, wearing a mask is important as you will most likely be in a densely populated area. But if you are walking down the street alone, working in your yard, or driving in your car, wearing a mask is not necessary. So, take those red, white, and blue patriotic and cute-floral printed masks off and take in the fresh air!
If our lungs are designed to breathe in oxygen to release carbon dioxide, then keep that in mind. Inhaling too much carbon dioxide may not only weaken the immune system over time, but short term effects are shortness of breath, dizziness, headaches, disorientation, and lack of energy. The body needs fresh oxygen to remain healthy, so please do not deprive yourself of this much-needed life source.
As soon as you are out of that public establishment and are certainly at least 6 feet away from any individual, take that mask off, bag it to keep it clean to wear again another day.
Several Suggestions On How To Build Up A Weak
Immune System And Keep It Strong
Immune System And Keep It Strong
- Eat healthy foods that are anti-inflammatory in nature. Inflammation in the body is one of the main causes of a weak immune system. And while inflammation is a normal response to an injury or an infection in the body, foods that cause inflammation unnaturally can, over time, contribute to a breakdown of a proper immune response. Here's a list of anti-inflammatory foods to consider: green leafy vegetables like greens and spinach, nuts, olive oil, fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, etc), and many different types of fruits like oranges, strawberries, blueberries, etc. Also, avoid eating foods that cause inflammation such as refined foods (white bread, sugar, red and processed meats, fried foods, shortening, margarine, etc.).
- Exercising regularly reduces inflammation in the body and strengthens the immune system. The latest studies show that physical activity for as little as 20 minutes a day can help with reducing inflammation in the body. Take a short walk in the neighborhood, treadmill, or in the comfort of your own home. Do not exercise while wearing a mask! It is not healthy. Breathing fast and inhaling CO2 while exercising will not strengthen your immune system.
- Don't smoke.
- If you must drink alcohol, drink in moderation.
- Minimize stress through meditative practices.
- Allow yourself adequate sleep.
How To Care For Your Decorative Fabric Masks
How To Care For Your Decorative Fabric Masks
To care for your decorative fabric masks for longer use, handwash your masks separately in cold to lukewarm water, and hang dry. This method will keep your fabric masks looking fresh and the colors vibrant. That elastic can get a little dingy, too, so don't forget to clean the elastic thoroughly, as well. Do not machine dry your masks as some materials may shrink, and some dryers may melt the elastic.
